Heat Trace Coils

Heat trace coils, also known as heat cables, are self-regulating electrical cables installed along your roof’s edges, gutters, and downspouts to help prevent ice dams and frozen drainage systems. These systems work by generating consistent, controlled heat that keeps snow and ice melted, allowing water to properly flow off your roof instead of refreezing at the eaves. When water refreezes, it can back up underneath shingles or roofing membranes, leading to leaks, interior damage, and costly repairs. Heat trace coils are especially beneficial for Hudson County homeowners, where winter storms, fluctuating temperatures, and densely built homes increase the risk of ice dam formation. By maintaining proper drainage throughout the winter months, heat trace systems help protect your roof, gutters, and interior from preventable winter damage while extending the overall lifespan of your roofing system.
